The city of Logan is gearing up for a big weekend.
On April 28th, 2008, Logan Mayor Serafino Nolletti was joined by Cindy Crigger, Joanne Tomblin and Randy Skeens of Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College to proclaim "Southern Days" in the city of Logan.
SWVCTC will hold their commencement exercises May 9 and 10 in downtown Logan at the Coalfield Jamboree.
May 9th will be the pinning for the Nursing Program beginning at 6 p.m., and May 10 will be graduation for all students beginning at 10 a.m.
"The city of Logan encourages all businesses to get involved in the event and welcome the graduates as well as their families," a press release from the city said.
The proclamation signed by the Mayor reads:
"Whereas, The City of Logan recognizes that Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College is the center for higher education in southern West Virginia and has proven its dedication to training the future workforce through technology.
"Whereas, the City of Logan, West Virginia recognizes that ongoing education and preparation for future jobs is necessary for an enriched quality of life and well-being of our community.
"Now, therefore be it resolved that the City of Logan, West Virginia proudly designates Friday, May 9th and Saturday, May 10th as Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College Days in downtown Logan.
"Be it further resolved that the City of Logan welcomes Southern and its graduates to the Coalfield Jamboree on May 9th and 10th to celebrate the Allied Health Pinning Ceremony and Commencement 2008."
