Local Police have been very busy in recent weeks making drug-related arrests.

Rodney Woodruff II, 19, of Omar, was arrested in Logan County by West Virginia State Police Trooper J.B. Frye for possession with intent to deliver and conspiracy on May 13.

Dominique Simmons, 19, of Ohio, was arrested in Logan County by Trooper Frye for possession with intent to deliver and conspiracy on May 13. He was booked at the regional jail at 10:08 p.m.

According to law enforcement reports, Sgt. J.B. Frye was conducting a drug investigation in the Pine Creek area when he saw two men on an ATV approaching him.

"This officer flagged down the ATV and they stopped," the report states. "This officer observed a large bulge in the passenger's front pocket. This officer requested both to exit the ATV, at which time the passenger, a black male, fled on foot.

"This officer gave chase and apprehended the same Dominique Lee Simmons. Simmons was found to be in possession of approximately 23 grams of a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana and $4,660.00 in US currency. The white male identified as the defendant (Rodney Woodruff) was operating the aforementioned ATV with Simmons during this crime. The accused did conspire with Simmons by riding him to the location where a drug transaction was to take place.

Both were taken into custody by Sgt. Frye and Tpr. D.W. Simmons and transported to the Southwestern Regional Jail at Holden at 10:08 p.m.
