Douglas Allen Clark, 29, of Omar, was arrested on May 17 by West Virginia State Police Trooper D.C. Moore for nighttime burglary.
According to police reports, Wellman was dispatched to a burglary-in-process call at Switzer, where the victim's family members were outside and "the defendant, Douglas Clark, was lying in front of the doorway of the home."
"After securing the defendant, it was found that several items were placed next to the doorway, the items included a compound bow, a rod and reel, a jewelry box and a tool box," the report states.
The witness, Lonnie Mounts stated he received a call from another individual saying his mother-in-law's house was being broken into.
"He stated upon arrival, he saw the defendant's car parked in the driveway. When he got out of his car he stated he noticed a shadow inside the house...When going towards the house he stated he saw the defendant coming out of the home with the stated items in his hands. He then yelled at the defendant to stop, that he was going to call the police. The defendant then laid down in the doorway. The defendant was still in this position when these officers arrived."
