Southern presents prestigious award

Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College presented the prestigious Savas-Kostas Awards during Commencement 2008 ceremonies conducted on May 14th at the Coalfield Jamboree. Kevin Fowler, president of Southern's Board of Governors, made the presentations to two faculty members and two staff members. Pictured l-r, are Outstanding Faculty Award recipients, Gordon Hensley II and George Morrison; President Joanne Jaeger Tomblin; and Outstanding Staff Award recipients, Cindy Whitlock-Powers and Christine Browning. The Savas-Kostas Awards were established as a permanent endowment by Logan businessman, Nick Savas and family, for the purpose of recognizing the contributions of outstanding faculty and staff at Southern.
