The Logan County Sheriff's Department is still investigating a DUI incident yesterday that lead to the death of a local man and the arrest of an area woman.
Chawndala Nicole Vincent, 30, of Lake, was arrested by deputies on felony charges for DUI causing death, second offense driving on a suspended license, no registration and no insurance.
Vincent was booked at the Southwestern Regional Jail at Holden early this morning at 4:35 a.m.
"The driver of the vehicle was a female," Sheriff Eddie Hunter said this morning. "We responded to the accident around 10:19 p.m. last night. It happened at Godby Heights. Chawndala Vincent was arrested and charged in the wreck with DUI causing death and some other charges."
Hunter said the victim in the incident, whose identity had not been released at press time this morning, had apparently been crossing the road on old WV Route 10 when he was struck by the vehicle driven by Vincent.
The accident is being investigated by LCSD deputies Jason Mathis and Lt. Dennis Brown and is ongoing, Hunter said.
At press time it was still unsure if the victim's family had been notified of the man's death.
It was not the only accident in that region yesterday. Earlier in the day two vehicles collided in an area of West Logan where residents have complained for years about danger due to vehicles speeding around a blind corner.
Two people were taken to the hospital following that incident but additional details were unavailable this morning.
