According to law enforcement reports, the officers received a call from family members stating that Nelson "did come to the residence" of one of the victims in McConnell, "and was threatening bodily harm to the occupants inside the residence with a firearm."
"These officers received several different calls on several different occasions in which these officers attempted to locate the above defendant on each occasion and were not able to locate the defendant," the report states.
"On the last complaint these officers responded to the residence and were informed that the defendant was inside the residence with a baby and a long gun threatening to kill anyone who approached the residence ... the grandmother of the defendant stated that the accused came to the residence and forcibly took ... the defendant's child from the grandmother. The accused then pushed (the victim) to the ground and stuck a gun to her head threatening to kill her. The accused then pushed her out the door along with (another individual). The defendant stated that he would kill them all if they returned to the residence. Upon arrival, these officers attempted to call inside the residence to make contact with the defendant with no success. The defendant was verbally instructed to come outside by the undersigned officers in which he refused. Several minutes later the defendant complied and was taken into custody. Upon further investigation these officers discovered a loaded .30-06 caliber rifle with several boxes of ammunition, a kitchen knife, and a pill crusher containing a white powdery substance in the bedroom. The defendant failed three different types of field sobriety testing, had slurred speech and was unsteady. The defendant did commit these acts while the above child was in his control."
