tourneys begin Saturday

Play is scheduled to begin on Saturday in the Area 1-2 and 3-4 11-12-year-old Little League all-star tournaments.

In the Area 1-2 tourney at Chapmanville's Tracy Vickers Field, host Chapmanville opens with a 2 p.m. contest against Madison. Holden and Logan play in the 4 p.m. contest.

On Sunday, Madison plays Logan at 2 p.m. and Chapmanville faces off with Omar at 4.

Then on Monday, Holden and Omar play at 6 p.m. with the Logan vs. Chapmanville game to follow at 8.

Action resumes on Tuesday, July 1 as Holden takes on Madison at 6 p.m. and Omar plays Logan at 8.

The tourney concludes on Wednesday, July 2 with the Omar-Madison game at 6 and the Holden-Chapmanville contest at 8.

In the Area 3-4 tourney at Pineville, Man opens with Big Creek at 2 p.m. and Pineville plays Gilbert at 4.

On Sunday, Man squares off with Pineville at 2 p.m. and Gilbert battles with Big Creek at 4.

Then on Monday, Man and Gilbert face off at 6 p.m. and Big Creek takes on Pineville at 8.

Welch has apparently withdrawn from the tournament.

Chapmanville Little League President Greg Hall and Pineville Little League President Brian Pertee are serving as the tournament hosts.

The top two teams from each tournament will then advance to the 11-12-year-old District tourney, which is tentatively slated to begin on July 5 at the Big Creek Little League field in McDowell County.
