Lafferty-Robinette plan August wedding - Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Lafferty of Davin are pleased to announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Brandi Michelle, to Jacob Lynn Robinette. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Johnie and Phyllis Glandon of Bruno, the late Loraine Toler Glandon, JoAnn Lafferty of Davin and the late James Kelly Lafferty. The prospective groom is the son of Larry and Kathy Robinette of Kistler and the grandson of Kathleen Robinette of South Man, the late Cleve Robinette, Virgie Davis of Hurricane and the late Boyd Davis. Brandi and Jacob are 2004 graduates of Man High School and 2008 graduates of Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College with degrees in Medical Laboratory Technology. They are employed at Charleston Area Medical Center. The couple will be united in matrimony at 2 p.m. August 9, 2008, at the Mallory Church of God with Rev. Tommy Canterbury performing the ceremony. A reception will be held at Man Central School following the ceremony. The couple will make their home at Hurricane.
Celebrating a second birthday - Benjamin Noah Shelton of Newport, Tenn., will be celebrating his second birthday on Thursday, July 3, with family and friends at the city park. He is the son of Adam and Felicia Stoneking Shelton and the brother of Nicholas Michael Shelton. Benjamin is the grandson of Arthur and Malinda Stoneking of Newport and the great-grandson of Ireland and Linda Vance of Logan.
Couple to wed July 12 - Velma and Homer Lacy of Harts and Jim and Darlene Bailey of Logan are pleased to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their children, Felica and Allen. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Lossie Gore of Harts, the late Lossie Gore and the late Homer and Hattie Lacy. The prospective groom is the grandson of Alfred Phipps of Belington, the late Faye Phipps and the late Horace "Jack" and Edna Bailey. He is the grandson of Frances Lawson Phipps of Proctorville, Ohio. The couple will be united in matrimony at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 12, at the Switzer Church of God. The gracious custom of an open ceremony will be observed.
