Can't wait to check out the new Gatti's Pizza buffet restaurant next to the Fountain Place Cinema 8 theater at the mall?
Well there are two ways to get a sneak preview. And the easiest way will be the one which will help raise funds for the Working to Eliminate Child Abuse and Neglect (WE CAN) charity.
WE CAN's new director Ellen Browning spoke with members of the Kiwanis Club of Logan about the upcoming event at their recent meeting held at the 317 Steak House in Logan.
Gatti's Pizza will be hosting Charity Night in support of the WE CAN program on June 30 at two times, 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets for the event are $10 and are available from The Logan County Chamber of Commerce; Don Elkins Music Store; McGrew Tire and the Department of Health and Human Resources.
Co-owners Nancy Bridges and Diane Barnett said the new restaurant has three rooms and should be a perfect location for the Kiwanis Club with its meeting room.
"It has the capability to move the walls back and make room for up to 60 people," Bridges said.
"All the money we make from this charity night event goes for the WE CAN program and its summer camp," Barnett noted. "There are 200 tickets available for 5 p.m. and 200 tickets available for 7 p.m. WE CAN Camp starts Aug. 15."
The Kiwanis will be moving to their new location at Gattis' on July 3. The first meeting at the new location will be at noon, Don Elkins said Thursday when the group met at the CSX Railroad Yard where the group has had some excellent meals courtesy of longtime Kiwanis stalwart Roger Ramey.
That's the other way to get a sneak peak at the new Gatti's Pizza - be a member of the Kiwanis or wrangle an invitation to a meeting from someone who is. The club will start meeting at Gatti's four times a month, with two evening meetings and two lunch meetings starting in July.
In other Kiwanis news: The group is also looking for volunteers for the upcoming Arts and Crafts Fair in August.
There will be a two mile-run and five mile walk at Chief Logan State Park as part of the ACF contact Shannon Meade, Kristi Adkins, Josh Butcher or Debrina Williams for more details. The Kiwanis made a $200 donation for the event as sponsors. Kiwanis treasurer Darrin Akers said the event needs more sponsors.
