CHARLESTON (AP) - The West Virginia Lottery is reminding people to be careful of scams.

Agency spokeswoman Nancy Bulla says an out-of-state woman contacted the state Better Business Bureau last week to say she'd gotten a call from someone telling her she'd won the lottery's second chance drawing. The only condition, the woman was told, was that she had to send some money in order to collect her winnings. Bulla says this woman knew something was fishy because she didn't remember entering the second chance drawing.

Bulla says if you don't know that you've entered something, you haven't. She also warns people never to send money or personal information to someone who calls out of the blue.
