DANVILLE - A two-vehicle crash on U.S. Route 119 at Danville claimed the life of a Logan County man Thursday.

Sergeant Mike Lafauci with the West Virginia State Police detachment in Danville said 26-year-old Billy Edwards of Milton was southbound when the vehicle he was driving slammed into another pickup truck driven by 67-year-old Earl S. Little of Wilkinson around 12:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon.

Little was also southbound but was traveling at a much slower rate when Edwards struck his vehicle in the rear near the Lick Creek exit of U.S. Route 119.

"Upon being struck, Little's vehicle continued to travel south on U.S. 119 approximately .25 miles," Lafauci's report stated. "Little's vehicle then crossed the median, struck a guard rail and overturned.

"This impact ejected Little from the vehicle and he received fatal injuries as a result of this crash. Witness statements indicated that Edwards' vehicle was being operated in a reckless manner leading up to the crash."

Little was reportedly a longtime employee of American Mine Services at Man.

Edwards suffered only minor injuries, according to reports.

Edwards was arrested and charged with negligent homicide, reckless driving and failure to maintain control. He was arraigned before a Boone County magistrate and is free after posting bond.

WVSP Trooper Hensley and Corporal Fouch also assisted with the investigation. Lafauci said the investigation is ongoing.
