WILKINSON, W.Va. - Marion F. Chapman, 84, of Wilkinson, departed this life Thursday, July 24, 2008, at his home.

Born April 7, 1924, at Lenore, he was a son of the late Roy and Bessie New Chapman. Also preceding him in death were several siblings, including Emmons, Grover, Hubert, Carol, Roy and Zeph.

Marion was a retired coal miner, having retired from Pittston Coal Company, a member of the UMWA and an avid fisherman, gardener and hunter.

Survivors include his wife, Lillie Caudill Chapman; five sons, Danny (Dorothy) Chapman of Morristown, Tenn., Doug (Cheryl) Chapman and Clyde Holbrook, both of Logan, David (Norma) Chapman of Whitman, and Darrell Chapman of Mason, Ga.; six daughters, Betty Weekley, Dianna (Jerry) Norman, and Darleen (Jon) Porter, all of Logan, Veronica (Danny) Hanks of Charleston, Debbie (James) Adkins of Mooresville, N.C., and Beverly Williams of Clear Springs, Md.; four sisters; Ethel (Lawrence) Short, Marie Boyd, Gay Colegrove and Shirley Clark, all from Ohio; 29 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a cousin, Robert Davis, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 27, at the Honaker Funeral Home in Logan with Rev. Melvin Muncy officiating. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.

Family members will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the National Parkinson Foundation, Inc., 1501 N.W. 9th Avenue, Bob Hope Road, Miami, FL 33136-1494.
