HARTS, W.Va. - Mrs. Dorothy E. Lucas, 87, of Harts, was born September 16, 1920, at Big Creek, a daughter of the late Albert and Louise Jane Elkins. She departed this life Sunday July 27, 2008, at Harts.

Also preceding her in death was her husband, Ward Lucas, on December 5, 1990; a son, Harry Lucas; a daughter, Baby Lucas; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Lucas; a great-grandson, Aaron Lewis, and her brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Lucas was a homemaker and a member of the Greenshoals Freewill Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Jack (Janice) Lucas of Greenshoals; nine daughters, Patty (Gene) Payne of Ashville, Ohio, Bonnie (Eugene) Hager of Ranger, Deloris (Jerry) Burton, Darlene (Robert) Cochran and Barbara (Joe) Ferrell, all of Big Ugly, Charity (Randell) Moore of Cloverdale, Ohio, Vicky (Jerry) Brewster of Romney, Dorothy Mae (Adam) Adkins of Greenshoals, and Gimma (Elvie) Browning of Harts; one daughter-in-law, Shirley Lucas of Columbus, Ohio; 27 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, at the Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services at Chapmanville with Rev. Frankie Frye officiating. Burial will follow at Lucas Family Cemetery at Rock House of Big Ugly.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Chapmanville is in charge of the arrangements.
