MAN - Three local men were arrested recently on theft charges according to law enforcement reports, one for copper theft.

Arthur Glen Cook, 26, of Sarah Ann, was arrested by West Virginia State Police Trooper P.J. Dick of the West Virginia State Police for petit larceny on Aug. 15.

According to police reports, on July 28, 2008 the officer received a complaint from Maynard's Machine Shop about an employee who allegedly "had stolen approximately 100 pounds of copper valued at $550.

"On July 31, 2008, this officer received statements from (two individuals and) both stated that they were working on July 28, and saw Cook load the copper into his car from a garbage can and drive off," the report states. "This officer also obtained surveillance footage showing Cook dragging a garbage can across the parking lot to his vehicle."

A warrant was issued for his arrest. He was taken into custody and was booked at the Southwestern Regional Jail at Holden at 6:10 p.m.
