HARTS, W.Va. - Ada Mae Abbott, 85, of Greenshoals Road at Harts, departed this life Sunday, August 24, 2008, at Logan Regional Medical Center.
Born October 29, 1922, at Big Ugly, she was a precious daughter of the late William and Mae Cooper Sperry. Also preceding her in death was one son, Dennis Ray Abbott; one brother, Paul Sperry, and three sisters, Ida Sperry, Opal Hager and Delilah Frye.
Ada enjoyed cooking, spending time with family, gardening and going to church. She was a member of the Greenshoals Freewill Baptist Church and was a Rosie Riveter for the Military in World War II.
Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband, Jasper Abbott; two daughters, Kathleen Marcum of Holden, and Arlene (Larry) Toppins of Greenshoals Road; one son, Donald Lee (Faye) Abbott of Anderson, S.C.; three sisters, Maggie Adkins of Holden, Dorothy Hager of Sweetland and Edith (Billy) Thomas of Whitman; two brothers William (Jewel) Sperry of Harts, and Johnny (Kathy) Sperry of Huntington; eight grandchildren, Sherry Farmer, Melissa Kolavich, Paula (Wade) Johnson, Michelle (BJ) White, Keith Toppins, Wesley Toppins (Cindy), Ammie (David) Avalle, and Brandon Abbott; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and a host of other extended family members. Ada will be sadly missed by her family, friends and many loved ones.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 27, at the Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Frankie Frye officiating. Burial will follow at Lucas Cemetery at Greenshoals Road.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
