The new Logan High School girls' volleyball coach led her Lady Wildcats to a tri-match win at Man on Wednesday night in the season opener.
Logan defeated Williamson, 25-11, 25-15, then downed host Man in the rubber match, 20-25, 25-23, 26-24. Man went 1-1 on the evening as the Lady Billies beat Williamson 25-20, 25-10.
In the finale matchup against Man, the Lady Cats went up 2-0 in the third and decisive set.
However, Man rallied, using a 7-1 run to take a 7-3 advantage. The Lady Billies held onto a 13-10 lead but Logan was able to tie it up at 13 and 14 and later at 24.
The Lady Cats then won the last two points to take the match. Lakin Conn got the game-winner for Logan on a tip at the net.
Logan's girls are scheduled to return to action with tonight's 6 p.m. match at county rival Chapmanville.
The Lady Cats then host Wayne on Tuesday, go to Tug Valley on Sept. 11 and host Tolsia on Sept. 16.
Man goes to Westside on Monday, hosts Matewan on Tuesday, hosts Burch on Wednesday and then plays host to Iaeger on Sept. 16.
Tonight's Logan match at Chapmanville will be the season opener for the Lady Tigers.
Chapmanville then is scheduled to go to Sherman on Tuesday before hosting Westside and Herbert Hoover on Sept. 11. The Lady Tigers then play at Poca on Sept. 16.
