Marshall University's newest fan - Chad and Whitney Lusk of Davin, received a very special gift on Valentine's Day with the birth of their daughter, Peyton Emily. Peyton was born on February 14, 2008, at CAMC Women and Children's Hospital by Dr. David Hunter and Sandra Cottle at 7:15 a.m. She weighed 7 pounds, 9 ounces and was 19.75 inches long. Peyton is the precious granddaughter of Jimmy and Debbie Caudill of Combs Addition and Pam Lusk of Davin. She is the great-granddaughter of Darrell and Beulah Foxx of Amherstdale, Billy Joe Lusk of Davin and the late Emilie Lusk. Peyton has a pet Chihuahua, Harley who she loves dearly. On Saturday, August 30, Peyton attended her first Marshall University football game and was featured in the pre-game show on Channel 13 WOWK. Peyton's "Grammy" Pam and her dad are both MU graduates and hope someday that she will follow in their footsteps.

Dunn-Wooten wed May 24 - Amber Nichole Dunn and Joshua Alexander Wooten were united in marriage on May 24, 2008, at Chapmanville United Baptist Church with Pastor Bobby Adams officiating. The wedding was in memorial of Amber's late grandfather, James Lee Dunn. Delcie Justice served as maid of honor; Scott Mitchell served as best man; bridesmaids were Mikia Neghmouche and Jenny Gheringer; groomsmen were Chris DelCheccolo and Zach Gheringer; flower girl was Isabella Cradock; ring bearers were Ethan and Gage Vint and ushers were Greg Dunn and Scott Meese. The food and wedding cake was supplied by Melinda Curry and Donna Moats. Decorations were by Debbie Napier and DJ Will Alderman provided the entertainment. Denise Vint was hairstylist for the event. Photography was by Gore Photography of Logan. Amber is the daughter of Dennis and Kim Woodrum and Josh is the son of Jody and Sherry Wooten. The couple will reside in Milton with their 2-year old border collie, Buster. Amber is employed at Cabell Huntington Hospital as a registered nurse in labor and delivery and Josh is employed with the Corps of Engineers in Huntington.

Introducing - Harrison and Natalie Sheppard of Rossmore would like to introduce their daughter, Emma Dawn. Emma arrived July 24, 2008, at 9:06 a.m. at CAMC Women's and Children's Hospital in Charleston. She weighed 8 pounds, 8 ounces and was 19 inches long. She the granddaughter of David and Brenda Adams of Stollings, Mike and Kim Sheppard of Rossmore, and Rebecca Perry of St. Albans. Emma is the niece of Paula Adams of Stollings, and Joey Sheppard, Jimmy Sheppard and Kenneth Abbott, all of Rossmore.

Introducing - Mark and Trish Conley of Chapmanville would like to introduce their son, Gabriel Matthew. Gabriel was born November 29, 2007, at Cabell Huntington Hospital at 7:45 a.m. At birth, he weighed 7 pounds, 1 ounce. He is the grandson of Harless and Joyce Hensley of Harts, Eloise Conley of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Lee and Leah Conley of Chapmanville. Gabriel is the great-grandson of Eva Conley, the late Ezra Conley, the late Willie and Goldie Tomblin, the late Manassas and Brook Hensley, the late Lonzo Hensley and the late Sally Spence.

24th anniversary tomorrow - Arthur and Malinda Vance Stoneking of Newport, Tenn., will celebrate their 24th wedding anniversary with family and friends. The couple was united in marriage at the Hillcrest Freewill Baptist Church at Micco on Sept. 8, 1984, by the late Rev. Russell Nelson. The couple have one daughter, Felicia Shelton, and two grandsons, Nicholas and Benjamin Shelton, all of Newport. Arthur is the son of James and Norma Stoneking of South Charleston. Malinda is the daughter of Ireland and Linda Vance of Logan and the granddaughter of the late William Lewis Vance, the late Arizona Sutherland and the late James "Bob" and Nannie Workman.

Birthday celebrations - Olivia and Kendal Lusk celebrated their birthdays together on Sunday, August 24, at the Bethel Tabernacle Church with family and friends. Kendal McKhade celebrated his first birthday with an "Elmo's First Birthday themed party. He was born August 28, 2007, at 3:31 p.m. at CAMC Women's and Children's Hospital in Charleston with Dr. F. Scott Hunter as attending physician. At birth, Kendal weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces and was 19 inches in length. Olivia Reneigh celebrated her fourth birthday with an "It's A Sunny Day" Elmo themed party. She was born August 30, 2004, at 2:29 a.m. at CAMC Women's and Children's Hospital with Doctors Lisa M. Skinner and F. Scott Hunter as attending physicians. At birth, she weighed 8 pounds, 1 ounce and was 19.5 inches in length. They are the precious children of Brandon and Brittany Clark Lusk of Robinette and the grandchildren of Jerry and Lisa Clark of Robinette and Aubrey and Janet Lusk of Kistler. They are the great-grandchildren of Joseph and Patricia Doczi of Lorado, Ina Clark of Lundale, the late Leon Clark, Faye Lusk of Kistler, the late Wannie Lusk and the late Arnold and Lora Lusk of Cyclone.

Couple to wed September 13 - Mitchell and Debbie Hensley of West Fork would like to announce the upcoming marriage of their daughter, Shannon Nicole, to Shaun Glen Dickey of Striker Fork. Shaun is the son of Pam Dickey of Chapmanville and Ronald Dickey of Michigan. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Eldon and Ola Mae Gore of Chapmanville and the late William Jay and Jane Hensley of Buck Fork. Shannon is the great-granddaughter of the late Muscoe and Sally Kirk of Piney and the late Alvie Gore of West Fork. The prospective groom is the grandson of Judith Johnson of Striker and Buck Johnson and Janet Chambers, both of Michigan. Shaun is the great-grandson of the late Luther and Brooke Johnson and the late Jim Adams, all of Striker, and the late Velma and Anderson Johnson of Chapmanville. Shannon is a 2000 graduate of Chapmanville High School and attended Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College were she achieved two associate degrees in business and in management. She has gone on to achieve a Bachelors Degree in Business. She is employed by Cooley Medical in Logan as a marketing representative. Shaun is a 2002 graduate of Chapmanville High and a graduate of the paramedic program at Southern He has gone on to achieve many certifications and training in rescue diving, swift water rescue, and Haz Mat. Shaun is employed full time by the Charleston Fire Department as a fire fighter paramedic. He is also employed part time at County Public Rescue in Logan as a paramedic. The couple will exchange marriage vows at 3 p.m. Saturday, September 13, at the Morning Star Church on Striker Fork of Chapmanville. The gracious custom of an open ceremony will be observed. The couple will honeymoon at their vacation property in the Florida Keys. The couple will make their home at Striker Fork of Chapmanville.

Introducing - Kevin and Angie Aldridge have been blessed with the birth of their daughter, Kiersten Danielle. Kiersten came from God's hands to theirs on July 23, 2008, weighing 8 pounds, 11 ounces and being 20 inches long. She is the precious granddaughter of Alan and Vicki Smith of Chapmanville and Bernard and Eunice Aldridge of Lenore. She is the great-granddaughter of Tom Risko of Chapmanville, Helen (Charles) Young of Mayfield, Ky., and Flossie Aldridge of Lenore. Kiersten is the great-great-granddaughter of Mary Copley of Lake and Nancy Risko of Chapmanville.

Golden Anniversary - Sadie and Daniel Gilley of Martinsburg celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on August 21 with their immediate family on the Chesapeake Bay. The Gilley's were married on August 28, 1958 at the First Presbyterian Church of Welch. Mrs. Gilley was guidance counselor at Man High School before retiring. Mr. Gilley was the owner of Gilley's Heating & Air Conditioning at Davin. A few years ago, the family home at Davin was destroyed by fire and so too were many family photos. Caiden was born Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at Cabell Huntington Hospital weighing 8 pounds, 11 ounces and being 22 inches long. He is the grandson of Loretta Vance of Monaville and the late Ray Vance Jr. Caiden is the great-grandson of the late James L. and Neva Jo Ramey of Rum Creek and the late Ray and Marie Vance of Switzer. He is the nephew of Chad and Tasha Vance of Chapmanville.
