CHAUNCEY, W.Va. - Elzie "Bud" George Jr., 65, of Chauncey, departed this life Saturday, September 6, 2008, at Thomas Memorial Hospital in South Charleston.
Born October 8, 1942, at Chauncey, he was a son of the late Elzie and Grace Stratton George. Also preceding him in death was one sister, Nancy Large.
Bud was a member of the Walnut Grove Freewill Baptist Church, a retired welding supervisor, and a U.S. Navy veteran.
Survivors include his loving wife, Janet Hall George; one son, Greg (Stephanie) George of Garretts Fork; two daughters, Debbie (Frank) Hensley of Omar and Laura George of Chauncey; four sisters, Norma White, Nadine (George) McKnight and Gail (Carew) Ferrell, all of Chauncey, and Janice (Charles) Jorden of Waldorf, Md., and three grandchildren, Gregory Allen George II and Christian Kyle George of Garretts Fork and Madyson Elizabeth Hensley of Omar.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 10, at the Walnut Grove Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Charles Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Walnut Grove Freewill Baptist Church.
Collins Funeral Home of Switzer is in charge of the arrangements.
