GREENVILLE, W.Va. - Donna Kaye Backus, 56, of Greenville, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, September 17, 2008, from Trinity Healthcare of Mingo at Williamson after a long illness.
Born March 26, 1952, at Man, she was a daughter of Ruth Browning Lester of Greenville and the late Clay Lester. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Ralph Clyde "Buddy" Backus, and a special friend, Cecil Lester.
Donna was a homemaker who enjoyed crafting and her family. She attended Greenville Freewill Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish her memory include one daughter, Sabrina (Jody) Rose of Greenville; one son, John "J.C." (Kelly) Backus of Buffalo Creek; one sister, Inez (Roger) Harris of Spice Creek; one grandson, David Rose of Greenville; four step-grandchildren, Angel Hicks, Matthew Lester, Kayla Hoosier and Quinten Rose; a special friend whom she loved dearly, Mary Lou Vance of Greenville, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be held at noon Saturday, September 20, at the Greenville Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Baxter Toler and Brother Jerry Simpson officiating. Burial will follow in Browning Grimmett Cemetery at Verner.
Pallbearers will be Pribble Rose Jr., Harold Rose, Brian Rose, Joe Rose, Jesse Rose, Chris Hoosier, Matthew Lester, and George Jude.
Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Vance, Pribble Rose Sr., Rex Backus, Jimmy Brown, and Dow Simpson.
