Couple to wed Saturday, Sept. 27 - Mr. and Mrs. Agie Bryant, along with Mr. and Mrs. Sammy Gore, would like to announce the forthcoming marriage of their children, Ashley Nicole Bryant to Christopher Alan Kirtley. Ashley is the granddaughter of Nola Tomblin Adkins of Mud Fork, the late Bill Tomblin and the late Ed and Inis Bryant of Buck Fork at Harts. She is a 2004 graduate of Logan High School and a 2008 graduate of Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College. Ashley is employed at CAMC General Division as a Medical Lab Tech. Chris is also the son of the late Alan Kirtley of Berkley Springs and the grandson of Charles Fleming of Crooked Creek, the late Levedah Fleming, Buford Kirtley of Paden City, and Ruth Vandevere of Ormond Beach, Fla. He is a 2004 Graduate of Logan High School and a 2008 graduate of Southern. Chris is employed at CAMC General Division as Radiologic Technologist. The couple will be united in marriage at one o'clock in the afternoon of Saturday, September 27, at the Mud Fork Freewill Baptist Church. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall. The gracious custom of an open ceremony will be observed. The couple plan to honeymoon in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., and make their home in Charleston.

65th wedding anniversary - Loren Burton and Helen Cogar of Davin celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary recently. The couple was married August 28, 1943, at Ansted. They are the parents of three children, Lowell (Betty) Cogar of Daniels, and Noel (Janice) Cogar and Pam (Danny) Gibson both of Davin. They have six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Introducing - Marvin and Mary Conner of McConnell are pleased to announce the birth of their new granddaughter, Irelyn Rose Conner. The daughter of Louis and Elaina Conner of Coco Beach, Fla., Irelyn was born July 14, 2008, at Cape Canaveral Hospital in Coco, Fla. She weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces and was 18.5 inches long. Irelyn's maternal grandparents are Ed and Lorraine Mowery of Merritt Island, Fla.

One year old - Timothy Shawn Tweed celebrated his first birthday on June 7, 2008, at the Hometown Buffet in Louisville, Ky. Shawn is the son of Tim and Virginia Tweed of Louisville and the grandson of Harley and Linda Tweed of Logan and Mickey and Harriett Walker of Sophia, N.C. He is the great-grandson of Edith Massey of Blountville, Tenn., and Virginia Tweed of Bristol, Tenn.

Introducing - Joey and Amanda Corns of South Man are proud to announce the birth of their first daughter, Loren Jolie. She was born on March 5, 2008, at 7:50 a.m. at CAMC Women's and Children's Hospital in Charleston with Dr. Michael Lao of WVU Physicians of Charleston and CAMC NICU as the attending physician. Loren weighed 5 pounds, 12.5 ounces and measured 17 inches long. She was welcomed by her maternal grandparents, Lorraine Lusk of Hanover and Toney Kenneda of Crouch's Farm, and paternal grandparents, Pamela Linville of Davin and David and Glenna Corns of Stony Point, N.C. Her paternal great-grandparents are Mercedes Corns of Davin and Freda Linville of Amherstdale. Also to assist in delivery of Loren was her Aunt Tonya Morgan and impatiently waiting for her arrival was her very special cousin, Peyton.

Couple to wed Oct. 11 - David and Connie Damron of Verdunville would like to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Kandee Nicole, to Nathan E. Bragg. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Betty Damron of Verdunville, the late James C. Damron and the late William "Bill" and Lucinda "Cindy" Workman. She is a 1999 graduate of Logan High School and a 2000 graduate of National Institute of Technology. Kandee is employed with Dr. Jodi Cisco in Logan. The prospective groom is the son of Robin and Donald Nelson of Turtle Creek and Ralph and Linda Bragg of Van. He is the grandson of Jackie McGee of Fairmont, the late David McGee, Frank Sargent of Cumberland, Ky., Betty Bragg of Clarksburg and the late Ralph Bragg. Nathan is a 1998 graduate of Van High School and is employed with Massey Energy at Van. The couple will be united in marriage on Saturday, October 11, 2008, at the Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church on Turtle Creek Road at Danville with Rev. Dewey Gore performing the ceremony. Following a honeymoon cruise with Royal Caribbean International to the western Caribbean, the couple will make their home at Northfork at Chapmanville.

10 years old - Bailey Nicole Bennett of Charleston celebrated her 10th birthday with a party given by her family and friends on July 10, 2008. The celebration was held at the Power Baseball Park in Charleston where Bailey threw out the first pitch for the game. She is the granddaughter of Raymond and Margaret Adkins of Amherstdale.
