Monday-Friday

* LOGAN - The Salvation Army will be taking applications for assistance for the 2008 Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays for Logan, Lincoln and Boone Counties' residents from 9 am-noon and 1-4 p.m. at 201 Stratton Street. You must have the following items at the time of sign up: Photo ID- Head of Household; Proof of income and proof of bills paid for past 30 days; DHHR print out or Social Security Numbers for all members living in home plus: all children's sizes of clothing for children under the age of 13; wish lists for all children under the age of 13 and proof of custody of children (birth certificates or letters from the court). This is the only week to sign up; there will be no make up days.

* LOGAN - Logan High School will have their homecoming parade at 1 p.m. Oct. 10. Those businesses, mini sports groups, clubs, organizations and other interested persons desiring to enter the parade should stop by Logan High School's main office by today and fill out the proper form. All community participation is welcomed. For more information you may call LHS at 752-6606.

Wednesday-Sunday

* HENLAWSON - The Shawnee Living History Trail will be held at Chief Logan State Park. The event features life in the Appalachians in the era of 1779, American Revolution. The living history camp will feature gunsmithing, blacksmithing, home life in the cabins, a fur trader, flint napping, spinning and settlers selling period supplies. There will also be sheep for the children to see.

* LOGAN - The Logan Scottish Rite Bodies of Freemasonry will observe table lodge at 7 p.m. in the Masonic temple. All members urged to attend.

* WEST LOGAN -The Logan County Board of Education will have a regular meeting in the Logan County Schools Administrative Offices Conference Room at 5 p.m.

* S. WILLIAMSON - Lindsey Wilson College and Food City will host a blood drive at the South Williamson Food City from 3-7 pm.

* CHAPMANVILLE - Chapmanville Regional High School will have their homecoming parade at 1 p.m. with lineup at East Chapmanville Grade School at noon. Parade entries need to call the school at 855-4522.

* LOGAN - Logan High School will have their homecoming parade at 1 p.m. with lineup by 12:30 p.m. The Logan Wildcat will play host to the Winfield Generals in a 7:30 p.m. football game that evening.

* MAN - The Man VFD will have a donut sale beginning at 10 a.m. Proceeds to benefit the fire department. The department is also raffling off a hunting basket valued at $300. To purchase a ticket or for more info on the raffle call the department at 583-8558 or James Lee at 784-0460.

* CHAPMANVILLE - The Chapmanville Regional High School choir is inviting all former choir alumni to return to sing the national anthem with the current CRHS Choir at homecoming. * LOGAN - The Logan County Education Association (LCEA) regular scheduled monthly meeting (scheduled for October 6 at LMS) will be held at the Logan High School Library. Registration and social time begins at 5:30 p.m. The actual conversation begins at 6 p.m. and will end no later than 8 p.m. WVEA President Dale Lee and WVEA Executive Director David Haney will be on hand to listen to conversations on public education. All education employees are urged to attend.
