The staff of the Big Ugly Community Center will once again be welcoming one and all to their Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 25 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event will offer activity for the entire family, including free food, local music, clogging, games, baked goods, and activities for kids, arts and crafts and more. The event started several years ago and it continues to grow according to staff member Kathy Smith.
"We have been doing the fall festival for five or more years," she said on Monday. "The staff here at the Big Ugly Community Center brainstormed one day and decided to start it as an annual event and it has been going ever since. We always try to have entertainment so we will have some bluegrass singers and some other music performers. We always try to have music. We will also have an antique car show, we will have kids' activities like pumpkin painting and we are trying to find a small baby pig for a greased pig contest. Kids like that."
Arts and crafts will be part of the event which features plenty of fun and free food as well for the whole family.
"We will have bake sales and many things for kids to do," Smith said. "We will have a free meal for the public as well as games and we want to do a community yard sale. Anybody who is interested in participating in that or any of our other activities can contact the center. Anybody who wants to set up and sell or have a display table can call us and reserve a space. We are also going to start collecting canned foods for our annual Thanksgiving dinner in November, so those who would like to help out on that project are asked to bring a can of canned food. "
Smith said the event is all about providing fun for the community.
"It's an annual community thing for parents and kids to have a fun activity to do and it's all free," she said.
