Mickey McNeely, 28, of Logan, was arrested by WVSP troopers P.R. Jones, P.J. Dick and D.C. Moore and Logan City patrolmen Artie Willis and Kevin Conley for burglary, grand larceny, conspiracy, obstructing an officer, assault on an officer and battery on an officer on Oct. 12. He was booked at the Southwestern Regional Jail at Holden at 7:02 a.m.
Everett Whitt Dempsey, 31, residence not listed, was arrested by the WVSP and the Logan PD for burglary, grand larceny, destruction of property, fleeing on foot and obstructing an officer. He was booked at the regional jail at 7:20 p.m.
According to police reports, the troopers were dispatched to assist the Logan PD during the arrest.
"Upon arrival, these officers observed Logan PD with two individuals detained," the report states. "These officers observed the defendant, Mickey McNeely being combative towards Logan PD.
"These officers attempted to assist Logan PD with detaining the defendant. These officers ordered the handcuffed defendant to come down off the stairs and walk towards the cruiser. At which time the defendant became combative towards these officers. The defendant was subdued and placed in the cruiser. Logan PD advised these officers that the defendant and his co-conspirator, Everett Dempsey, had a flat screen television in their possession when they arrived in the area.
"When the defendant and Mr. Dempsey saw the police cruiser, they fled into the weeds," the report continued. "These officers then searched the residence and obtained evidence that the house, occupied by the victim...had been broken into by the defendant and Mr. Dempsey and a flat screen television valued at approximately $1,500 had been stolen. Upon speaking with the defendant he stated the laptop computer was in the weeds close to where they were discovered by Tpr. D.C. Moore. The defendant stated that the co-defendant had broken into the home and they planned to take the stolen items to sell them for pills and money."
