Nothing, this year, will top the excitement of our daughter's wedding, but it is over so I'll have to find something new to write about. I know people have gotten tired of hearing the same thing each week, but this event has held my life captive for the last month, at least. It was a "monster" that loomed over my head just waiting for me to make a mistake so it could gobble me up never to be seen again.

It makes me feel good to know I have conquered the beast and can once again take a deep breath without wondering what I have left off my list or if I need to check on something. I spent so much time on the telephone that I almost gave up and just glued it to my ear. On the day of the wedding, I told all my email buddies not to send me anything because I wasn't getting on the Internet for at least three weeks. The next thing on the agenda is the election. I have to figure out who gets my vote.

My dilemma is that I never vote a straight ticket, and I always try to choose the best candidate for the job. I also never tell anyone, except my husband, my final choice.

I am registered as a Democrat. There are two reasons for this. First, my father was a Democrat. In fact, he was a straight ticket Democrat.

My father was one of the most intelligent people I have ever known, but even as a pre-voter, I wondered how he could think all the best people were Democrats. I'm sure this is the main reason I have never been able to pull that straight Democrat lever.

I don't believe in ghosts, but I'm also sure that Joe Varney would come back from the grave to haunt me if I even thought about registering as a Republican.

The second reason I am registered as a Democrat is a rather sad one. A person who is registered as a Republican in Mingo County has very few choices in the races. In some races, there isn't even a candidate. Good or bad, at least there are a few choices on the Democrat side.

At least in this election, we have two fairly good candidates for President. In the last election, we had a choice between bad and worse.

The choice between McCain and Obama is not easy for us "middle of the fencers." On one hand, Mc Cain is rather old although he does seem smart and has longevity in his genes. But, how much like Bush is he, and what will happen to our country if we have four more years of "Bushy" government?

If anything happens to McCain while he is in office, Palin takes over, and I'm not sure she should be in charge of our nation. The only thing I see she has going for her is "perky."

In fact, in this entire nation, surely both candidates could have chosen better vice presidential material. The problem is that they chose people for running mates rather than people who could best run the government in case they are needed. I think Obama missed the boat when he didn't select Hillary to run with him. I'm also sure this was pure politics whether it was her decision or his.

Obama is also smart, but doesn't have much experience in national issues. I noticed him several years ago and commented that he would, one day, run for President.

There is an email going around comparing his background to that of the world leader in Revelation. This has many Christians concerned about casting their vote for him. Does this story have any truth in it, or is it the devil's way to keep us from voting for Obama? I remember several years ago the same type of story went around about another popular government figure. I'm not sure, but I think it was Kissinger.

I probably make won't make my decision until it's time to push the button. One thing I am sure about. I will pray about my choice until it is made.

The Presidency of the United States is up for grabs. In fact, in some ways our entire country may be up for grabs depending on the outcome of the election. Christians need to pray hard about this election and take their fingers off their party buttons. They need to vote for the best choice no matter which party he represents.
