HEWETT, WV - Carl Edward "Heffer" Ellis, 59, of Hewett, Boone County, passed away Sunday, October 19, 2008, at CAMC Memorial Division in Charleston, following an extended illness.
Born March 3, 1949, in Boone County, he was a son of the late Virgil and Frances Pridemore Ellis. Also preceding him in death was one brother, Roy Ellis.
Mr. Ellis was a former coal miner with 13 years of service and a former bus driver for Boone County Schools with 18 years of service and a member of the Spencer United Methodist Church at Hewett.
Survivors include his wife, Pansy Lynn Rhodes Ellis; one daughter, Carla (David) Workman of Hewett; two sons, Carl Jr. (Teresa) Ellis of Clothier and Dale Ellis of Six Mile; three sisters, Lecia Ellis and Rose Queen, both of Hewett, and Sherrie Prince of Quinland; three brothers, Donald Ellis and Ronald Ellis, both of Hewett, and Randy Ellis of Whitesville; nine grandchildren, David Lee, Angela, Ashely, Celecia, Tessa, Cody, Desirea, Carly and Celina; five sisters-in-law; 12 nieces and nephews and a host of additional family and friends.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, October 23, at the Stevens Funeral Home in Madison with Earl Akers officiating. Burial will follow in Family Gardens at Madison.
