The unbeaten Tigers are 8-0 with 11.50 points, behind No. 1 Keyser (7-0), which had 12.86 points and No. 2 Grafton (7-0) which was third with 12.57 points.
Chapmanville is off this Friday night and closes out the regular season Oct. 31 at home against Wayne and Nov. 7 at Point Pleasant.
Wayne is just behind the Tigers in the fourth spot with a 6-1 record and 10.14 rating. Point Pleasant is rated 11th this week with a 5-3 record and 7.00 rating.
Chapmanville has already clinched a playoff spot and are hoping to secure homefield advantage for the postseason.
The Tigers are looking to finish the regular season 10-0 and have their first unbeaten campaign since the 1985 and 1985 teams closed out with identical 10-0 marks.
Chapmanville breezed past winless Tug Valley, 45-8, last Friday night at Naugatuck.
Ravenswood (6-1) was ranked fifth in this week's ratings, while Scott (5-2) was sixth, Webster County (7-1) seventh, James Monroe (5-2) eighth, Weir (5-2) ninth and Wyoming East (5-2) 10th. Shady Spring (5-3) was 12th, while Bluefield (5-2) and Frankfort (5-2) were tied for 13th. Magnolia (5-3) and Philip Barbour (5-3) were tied for 15th. Independence (5-3) was 17th and Tolsia (4-3) 18th.
If the season ended today, Chapmanville would host either Bluefield or Frankfort in the first round of the playoffs. The Beavers beat the Tigers 41-18 in the second round of last year's playoffs at Bluefield's Mitchell Stadium. Chapmanville beat Keyser's Golden Tornado, 18-14, in the opening round.
The top 16 teams in each class qualify for the playoffs which are scheduled to begin Nov. 14 across the state of West Virginia.
In the Class A ratings, Man stayed at 14th in the state with a 4-3 record and 6.29 rating. The Hillbillies won 35-12 over Class A rival Gilbert last Friday night on the road. Man plays at Wyoming East on Friday night.
Williamstown (6-1) was first in Class A, followed by No. 2 Pocahontas County (8-0) and No. 3 Matewan (6-0). Wheeling Central (6-2) was fourth, Fayetteville (7-1) fifth, Madonna (7-0) sixth, St. Marys (7-1) seventh, Mount Hope (6-1) eighth, Wahama (6-1) ninth and Big Creek (6-1) 10th. Calhoun County (5-2) was 11th, Parkersburg Catholic (5-2) and Tucker County (5-2) were tied for 12th, Man was 14th, Midland Trail (4-3) 15th and Clay-Battelle (6-2) 16th.
If the season ended today, Man would travel to Matewan to play a first-round playoff game.
In the Class AAA ratings, South Charleston (8-0) was first, University (8-0) second, George Washington (7-1) third and Capital (7-1) and Morgantown (7-1) were tied for fourth. Wheeling Park (6-1) was sixth, Hurricane (6-1) was seventh, Bridgeport (6-1) eighth, Cabell Midland (6-2) ninth and Martinsburg (5-2) and Nicholas County (7-1) were tied for 10th.
Fairmont (5-2), Spring Valley (5-2) and Parkersburg South (5-2) were tied for 12th. Musselman (6-2) was 15th and Beckley Woodrow Wilson (4-3) was 16th.
Logan is on the outside looking in with a 3-4 mark and No. 25 ranking. The Wildcats play at Lincoln County on Friday night. The Panthers are 27th with a 3-5 mark.
