Eight years old - Lexi Michelle Vance celebrated her eighth birthday by cruising on the Carnival Legend to the Western Caribbean on September 14-21, 2008. She had the opportunity to visit and enjoy the Grand Cayman Turtle Farm and the Grand Cayman Butterfly Farm in the Cayman Islands; Cozumel, Mexico; Belize; and Tabayana Beach in Isla Roatan, Honduras. Lexi is the daughter of Todd and Lisa Vance of Harts, and the granddaughter of Bethel and Janet Vance of Harts, and Delmas and Marlene Conley of Mill Creek. She is the great-granddaughter of Delana Conley of Henlawson and the late Joe Conley. Lexi was able to share photographs of her different excursions with her second grade classmates and teacher, Mr. Bias, at Hugh Dingess Elementary. Also aboard the Carnival Legend were Lexi's mother, Lisa, and grandmother, Marlene and friends, Debra and Kaylee Maynard.

Couple to wed Nov. 8 - Winford and Geneva Adams of White Oak Fork of Chapmanville are pleased to announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Tiffany, to Richard Lee Webb, the son of Bernard and Judy Webb of Wayne. The bride-elect is a 2004 graduate of Chapmanville High School and a 2007 graduate of Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College with a certificate in Medical Lab Assistant. The prospective groom is a 1996 graduate of Wayne High School and is employed with Rockspring Development at East Lynn. The couple will be united in marriage at 4 p.m. Saturday, November 8, 2008, at the White Oak Church of Christ. The gracious custom of an open ceremony will be observed. A reception will follow at Chapmanville Middle School. Following a honeymoon to Pigeon Forge, Tenn., the couple will make their home at Genoa of Wayne.

Introducing - Mitchell and Lois Baker Grigg of Chapmanville is pleased to introduce their son, Walker Keith. Walker was born March 29, 2008, at CAMC Women's and Children's Hospital in Charleston weighing 7 pounds, 7 ounces and being 19.75 inches long. Walker is the grandson of Mark and Cheryl Grigg and Dennis and Kathy Baker, all of Chapmanville, and the great-grandson of Anna June Perdue of Chapmanville, Richard and Gertrude Adkins of Pace, Fla., and Arthur and Juanita Cole of Nashville, Tenn.
