CHAPMANVILLE, WV - Olive "Kat" Dingess, 81, of Chapmanville, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, October 30, 2008, at Logan Regional Medical Center.

Born May 1, 1927, in Logan County, she was a daughter of the late Virgil and Molly Doss Burton. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Witcher Dingess; son, Jimmy Dingess; brothers, James "Tommy" Burton, Don Burton and Haze Burton; sisters, Wanda Gay Burton and Virgie Burton; son-in-law, Earl Akers, and daughter-in-law, Jill Tomblin Dingess.

Prior to her illness, Olive attended Morning Star Church of West Fork.

Survivors include three daughters, Dolly Akers of Chapmanville, with whom she made her home, and Mary (Glen) Conley and Molly (Michael) Neil, both of Caney Branch; three sons, Roy Dingess of Harts, William "Bill" (Brenda) Dingess and Mason Dingess both of Chapmanville; four sisters, Oqretta Carol (Jack) Dunn of Delaware, Jean (Jimmy) Smith of Cleveland, Ohio, Easter Johnson of Verdunville and Arizona (Lonzo) Bryant of Brushy; two brothers, Glen Burton of Huntington and Virgil Burton of Brushy;17 grandchildren, Deloris (Keith) Frye of Chapmanville, Donna (Danny) McCormick of Kentucky, Earl Ray (Andrea) Akers of Chapmanville, Annie Lou (Dallas) Booth of Kitchen, Roy Lee (Shannon) Dingess, David (Dorothy) Dingess, Joey Dingess, Jill (Craig) Bowen, and April Dingess, all of Harts, Marilyn Adams of Virginia, Wesley Dingess of Chapmanville, Glen (Tammy) Conley of Caney Branch, Sabrina Conley of Huntington, Ross Dingess and Tasha Dingess of West Fork, Stephanie (Trampus) Pridemore of Pigeon Roost, and Eric Neil of Caney Branch; 22 great-grandchildren, Nathanial and Samantha Akers, Nicholas McCormick, Stephen and Cheyanne Akers, Tyler, Katie and Tessa Booth, Howard David II, Madison and Paige Dingess, Ryan Adams, Samuel Dingess, Emma Grace Hall, Jason and Jeanna Conley, Ethan and Cameron Bowen, Melissa Dingess, Jacob and Caleb Pridemore, and Joseph Elliott, and one great-great-grandchild, Landon Gillespie.

Services were held Sunday, November 2, at Freeman Funeral Home with Minister Van Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Dingess Cemetery on Marsh Fork.

Family members and friends served as pallbearers.

Freeman Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
