Stand up for the American workers

Editor,

According to a CNN news report, South Korean's have been protesting the importation of American beef into their country. I don't know about you, but I feel the current generation of South Koreans isn't aware of the countless American and other United Nation soldiers who laid their lives on the line to protect them from those barbarians from the north in the early fifties.

Some students of history do not agree with former President Harry Truman's approach to things like the current protests over the imports of American beef into South Korea. I think if he was our president today, he would most likely tell them where they could place the billions of dollars of exports they ship to America everyday.

Now I'll admit I don't know a lot about what other products we ship to South Korea, but I'll wager you they cannot match what we import from them. I doubt you see as many Chevrolets or Fords over there as you see Hyundai's here.

I wish we had a president who would stand up for the American workers and show some of these countries what Embargo means. I'm tired of people shouting "trade war", when some one tries to stand up for America's workers.

I also read where the South Koreans say they no longer want a defense pact with the United States. No problem. Bring our soldiers home. Let them defend themselves when the North Koreans attack again. Let them ride into battle on their Hyundais!

It's nothing more than common sense. Of course the politicians will make it more complicated so they can appear more important in front of the cameras by saying something like, "you don't understand the ramifications of pulling our military forces out of the Korean peninsula too prematurely." Bring them home, let them protect our borders. I'll bet their sons or daughters aren't over there with their lives on the line.

Well, thanks once again for letting me express my opinions. Dosvedonya!
