It all begins for Logan County's three prep teams next week.
The Man High School Lady Billies, which went 20-6 last season and advanced to their first state tournament in more than 20 years, are scheduled to open the season Dec. 12 at home against new sectional foe Burch. The Lady Billies play in a new Class A sectional with Burch, Matewan, Williamson and Gilbert.
Man, coached by Tonia Ward, lost 45-31 to Wheeling Central last season in the first round of the Class A tournament at the Charleston Civic Center. After taking on Burch the Lady Billies then play at Logan on Dec. 17.
The Chapmanville Regional High School Lady Tigers are scheduled to open the new season on Dec. 9 at home against Cardinal Conference foe Herbert Hoover. CRHS then hosts Poca on Dec. 11 and play at Burch on Dec. 15.
The Lady Tigers, coached by Ronnie Ooten, were 10-13 last year and fell 64-34 to Scott in the sectional tourney. Chapmanville's new Class AA sectional opponents are Scott, Wayne, Tug Valley and Tolsia.
The Class AAA Logan High School Lady Wildcats, coached by Tim Cunningham, are trying to shake last year's 6-17 record. Logan opens the season Dec. 9 at home against Tolsia, then hosts Winfield on Dec. 13. Logan's new 3A sectional foes are Huntington, Spring Valley, Lincoln County and Cabell Midland.
