BECKLEY, WV - Maple Mae "Squirt" Hunt Chapman, 78, of Beckley, formerly of Baisden, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Sunday, December 7, 2008, from Bowers Hospice House at Beckley.
Born December 9, 1929, at Biggs, Ky., she was a beloved daughter of the late William J. and Betty Pugh Hunt. Also preceding her in death were 11 brothers and sisters.
Squirt, as she was known to all, was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She had a lovely smile for everyone she met. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church of Gilbert. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to love and cherish her memory include her loving husband of 61 years, Montana "Junior" Chapman Jr.; her two beloved sons, Eddie (Gay) Chapman of Baisden and Ricky Joe (Debbie) Chapman of Oceana; her beloved daughter, Sheila Chapman of Beckley; her six precious grandchildren, Victoria C. (Warren) Brown, Douglas (Sam) Chapman, Melissa Chapman (Dwayne) Cline, Amanda J. Chapman, Ashley Chapman and Erick (Greta) Cline; her five precious great-grandchildren, Andreau Chapman Morgan, Joshua Chapman, Madison Chapman Brown, Sarah Chapman and Ranse Cline; her sister, Berchie Slone of Pals Creek, Ky., and a host of other dear family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 10, at the First Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronnie Lester and the Rev. Mason Perry officiating. Burial will follow in the Chapman Cemetery at Baisden.
She will be carried to her final resting place by her grandsons, great-grandsons, Warren Brown, and Dwayne Cline.
Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Noe, Ronnie Mounts, and Arthur, Arthur Jr., Doug and Jessie Ellis.
Mounts Funeral Home of Gilbert is in charge of the arrangements.
