Law enforcement officers made more arrests on malicious wounding charges in the past few months than they have in the past year according to local police reports and that trend is continuing during the holidays, officers say.

Anna Marie Block, 32, of Omar, was arrested in Logan County by West Virginia State Police Trooper J.K. Harris for malicious wounding, domestic assault, domestic battery and obstructing an officer on Dec. 5.

According to police reports, on Dec. 5, troopers Harris and C.W. Seacrist traveled to a residence on Cow Creek about an alleged domestic violence incident.

"Upon arrival, these officers observed blood on the porch of the residence of the accused," the report states. "Additionally, these officers made contact with the accused, Anna Marie Block, who advised these officers the incident was a misunderstanding and that she no longer needed assistance. This officer refused to leave until contact was made with the victim. Upon contact with (the victim), this officer observed two puncture wounds to the chest of the victim. The victim and the accused then both admitted being involved in a physical altercation at which time the accused stabbed the victim with a steak knife.

She was arrested and booked at the Southwestern Regional Jail at Holden at 4:48 a.m.

Dwayne Lee Shabdue, 29, residence not listed, was arrested in Boone County by the Danville Police Department for malicious wounding on Nov. 27. He was booked at the regional jail at 10:14 p.m.
