MT. GAY, WV - Jack Menard White Jr., 63, of Ridgeview at Mt. Gay, went home to be with the Lord, his savior, Thursday, December 25, 2008, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington following a long illness.
Born May 5, 1945, at Mill Creek, he was a son of the late Jack Sr. and Mary Grady White. Also preceding him in death was his step-mother, Irene White Evans; one brother, Joe, and two sisters, Ada Mae and Billie Jo White.
Jack was a Vietnam veteran and had served in the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy and the Merchant Marines. He was stationed on the USS Intrepid, the USS Independence and USS Young America. Jack worked as a dozer operator at Belva Coal Company and was a member of the UMWA local 5918, and became disabled in 1988. He was also a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church of Logan.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving and devoted wife of 38 years Patty Wiggins White; two sons, Bill (Angie) of Stollings and Jack White III of Tampa, Fla.; one daughter, Patricia White of Charleston; one sister, Mary (Reed) Evans of Tennessee; one brother, Lincoln, of Ocala. Fla.; four brothers- in-law, Albert (Sheila) Wiggins and Larry (Caroline) Wiggins, both of Chapmanville, Stevie Wiggins of Charleston, and Robert (Pam) Ellis of McConnell; sister-in-law, Linda (Daniel) Heckman of North Carolina; his most precious grandbabies, Alex White of Orlando, Fla., and Baylee and Shayna White of Stollings; one step-granddaughter Jasmine Evans of Orlando, and two very special friends, Darrell and Lolita Evans of Stollings. He will be missed very much by all of his friends and family.
Funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 30, at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Logan with Father Tom Charters officiating. In keeping with Jack's wishes, there will be no viewing and to be cremated after the funeral mass.
