Landau to be honored this evening

Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. will receive a hero’s welcome this evening in the city of Logan.

Murphy is this year’s “America’s Got Talent” winner. He won $1 million and a Las Vegas show by singing Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin classic songs.

The Hatfield-McCoy Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Logan County Chamber of Commerce are both sponsoring the celebration set for today at 5:30 p.m.. The event is free to the public.

The parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the lineup set for 4:30 p.m. across from the Logan Library on Midelburg Island.

Immediately following the parade, a ceremony will be held in the Logan Memorial Field House to honor Murphy.

The City of Logan will be presenting a fireworks display to conclude the evening’s festivities.

Murphy, who was formerly a Logan County car washer, was chosen by American TV viewers as this year's champion of "America's Got Talent", as he won the top prize of $1 million and a show at Las Vegas' Caesar's Palace with his velvet renditions of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin classic songs.

Admission to the parade and ceremony is free, and no tickets are required.
