Born August 3, 1949, in Harts, he was a son of the late Parker Jim and Elva Nelson Maynard. Also preceding him in death were his grandparents, Milton and Emaline Vance Maynard and Hurston and Viola Lovejoy Nelson; two brothers, Wandell and Robert Maynard; two sisters-in-law, Sandra Kay Bryant Maynard and Linda Farley Maynard; one grandson, Austin Ray Carter, and his father and mother-in-law, David Price and Alice Maynard Lucas.
Milton enjoyed working on cars and lawn equipment, but mostly being with his family and grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 41 years, Helena Lee Lucas Maynard; two daughters, Catherine Dawn Bennett of Forsyth County, N.C., and Helena Christina (Dallas Jr.) Carter of Wirt County; two sons, Jame E. (Brandy) Maynard and Jerry R. Maynard, both of Harts; two sisters, Thelma Jean (Kelvin) McCoy and Ona Mae (Ance) McCoy, both of Big Creek; four brothers, David, Donald, Scottie (Kathy) and Paul Maynard, all of Ranger; 12 grandchildren, Grant, Seth, Luther, Caleb, Taylor, James “JC”, Breanna Dawn, Jerica Rae, Morgan Renee, David, Thomas and Brison, and a host of family and friends.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Huntington for their support and help.
Services will be held at 1 pm, Wednesday, September 28, at Freeman Funeral Home with Rev. Moses Vance and Ronald Manns officiating. Burial will follow at Nester Cemetery at Short Bend of Little Hart.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
