HOLDEN, W.Va. — Albert David Donahue, 78, of Holden, departed this life to be with the Lord Sunday, October, 9, 2011, at his home after a long illness.

Born December 18, 1932 in Orlando, Fla., he was a son of the late Albert Pervis and Nettie Myrtle Bowers Donahue. Also preceding him in death were three brothers, Lewis, Paul and Francis “Frank” Donahue, and one sister, Lila Partridge.

Albert was a retired truck driver, a veteran of the Korean War, a loving, caring and giving father, husband and grandfather and a friend to all. He attended the No. 7 Freewill Baptist Church at Holden for many years.

Those left behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Reba Donahue; three children, Barbara J. (Bobby) Adkins of Whitman, Sandra L. (Buck) Lukacs of Mt. Gay and David R. (Tammy) Donahue of Holden; five grandchildren, Kelly Samson, Shanon Townsend, Joshua Lukacs, Zachary Donahue and Caleb (Cheyenne) Donahue; four great-grandchildren, Christopher and Skylar Samson, Corey Townsend and Sadie Sheppard; many nephews ands nieces; his special caregiver, Julie, and a host of family and friends.

Services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, October 13, at No. 7 Freewill Baptist Church at Holden with Rev. John R. Spears and Rev. Roy Adkins officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons Joshua Lukacs and Zachary Donahue, friends, Jerry Dale Workman, Mike Wendell, Eric Bronze and Kevin Stone.

Honorary pallbearers will be his grandson, Caleb Donahue, his friend, Bobby Barnette and his nephews, Eddie Adkins and Kevin Flemings.

Flag carrier will be Will Turner.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Freeman Funeral Home of Chapmanville is in charge of the arrangements.
