Born April 9, 1930 at Justice, she was a daughter of the late Humphrey and Brook Ellis. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Loomis “Ed” Haynes; son, William “Bill” Haynes of Logan; two grandsons, Kyle Joseph Haynes and Edward (Jennifer) Kitchen, both of Logan; three sisters, Pauline Lawrence of Morgantown, Ernestine (Vernie) Trent of Marietta, Ohio, and Myrtle (Charles) Howard of Tall Timbers, Md., and a brother, Humphrey Jr. (Reba) Ellis of Justice.
Joan was one of the founders of M&J Jewelers of Man and remained active in the business until her death.
Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Haynes Trivette and Carolyn Haynes Kitchen, both of Logan; grandson, William Haynes of Whitman; granddaughter, Beth (Teddy) Thompson and great-grandson, Colton Thompson, both of Harts; brother, James Ellis of Gilbert; sister, Ruth Bragg of Barboursville, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, October 28, at the James Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Arbie Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
