After a short Christmas break, action continues this week for some of Logan County’s high school basketball teams.

The Chapmanville Regional High School boys, which lost 76-68 last week to Mingo Central in the championship game of its own Bob Runyon Memorial Holiday Tournament, is scheduled to hit the road tonight to play Class AAA Nicholas County (2-2) at Summersville.

The Grizzlies are new to Chapmanville’s schedule. The home-and-home series replaces Logan after the county series was discontinued after nine seasons.

The Tigers (2-1), then go to play on Friday night at Point Pleasant in a Cardinal Conference game.

The Logan High School boys’ basketball team, 2-2 after beating Westside, 80-77, last week at home, are scheduled to play at Class AAA sectional foe Cabell Midland on Wednesday. On Thursday night, the Wildcats host Liberty Raleigh, a new opponent to Logan’s schedule. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at Logan’s Willie Akers Arena.

The Man High School boys, 3-2 after a pair of losses last week in the Chapmanville tourney, are set to close out the 2011 portion of the 2011-12 roundball season at Huntington St. Joe on Friday night.

The Chapmanville Lady Tigers (3-2) are scheduled to play at Poca on Thursday night but the Poca High School girls’ basketball team recently folded due to a lack of players and the game is in doubt. Chapmanville is likely to get a forfeit win but that has not yet been determined. Chapmanville is then set to play five-time defending Class AA champion and No. 1-ranked Summers County on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Capital City Showcase at the Charleston Catholic Athletic Complex.

The Logan High School girls (1-7) host Morgantown on Friday night.

The Man Lady Billies (5-3) are off until Jan. 5 when they host Sherman.
