Tolsia tops Miners in Mingo Central tourney final

Tolsia came away with a 66-57 victory over Mingo Central on Wednesday night in the championship game of the Mingo Central Tournament at Newtown.

Mingo Central (6-2), which won last week’s Bob Runyon Memorial Holiday Tournament title at Chapmanville, advanced to the finals with a 66-50 win over Mount View on Tuesday night.

Nick Lee had 14 points to lead the Miners against Mount View.

Corey Cook added 13.

Mount View downed River View 43-40 in overtime in last night’s consolation game.

Tolsia, a Class AA sectional opponent of Mingo Central, advanced to the title game with Tuesday’s 58-34 victory over River View.

In other area action on Wednesday night, Tug Valley won 52-38 at Scott in another battle of 2A sectional rivals.

Aaron Muncie had 14 points to lead the Class AA No. 6 Panthers. Mason Pack had 12 and Mikey Newsome 11.

Jesse Belcher and Matt Dolan each scored 14 points for the Skyhawks.
