We applaud the Chapmanville and Logan fire and police departments for playing the first-ever Bird Bowl charity football game on Saturday at the Logan High School football field. The game was held in memory of firefighter Cory “Bird” Price, who was tragically killed in a motorcycle crash a little more than five months ago. The proceeds of the game went to help fund the Cory “Bird” Price Scholarship, which will be given to a student who works with a fire department in each of the county’s three schools.
Price, the son of Chapmanville Mayor Jerry Price and his wife, Marlene, was dedicated to helping others and we can think of no better tribute to him than to play this game and use the money made to help kids throughout the county.
We hope the Bird Bowl grows each year in popularity and continues to fund the scholarship that will carry on Cory Price’s legacy of helping others.
