The Chapmanville Regional High School girls’ basketball team won for the sixth straight time as the Class AA No. 8-ranked Lady Tigers rolled over visiting Sherman, 70-22, on Monday night in a Martin Luther King Day game with the Tide at the CRHS gym.
Chapmanville (9-3) had an easy time with Sherman, leading 21-5 after one quarter, 46-11 at the half and 58-18 after three.
Kelli Garrett, a senior guard, tossed in 21 points to lead the Lady Tigers.
Kaylee Maynard netted 13 and Katelynn Hall seven. Hailey Price and Codi Conley had six each, while Kristin DesRocher had five and Hannah Vance four. Jessica Rideout, Emma Paris and Kim Lambert all had two each.
Hallie Jarrell led Sherman (2-9) with six points.
Chapmanville is scheduled to return to action on Jan. 24 at Herbert Hoover. The Lady Tigers then host county rival Logan on Jan. 26.
The Logan Lady Cats fell to 4-9 on the season with Monday night’s 65-37 blowout loss at home to Class AA No. 6 Tolsia at Logan’s Willie Akers Arena.
Krista Maynard led Tolsia with 19 points, 10 assists and six steals as the Lady Rebels improved to 9-3 on the season. Kellie Lahoda tallied 16, while Kristie Lahoda and Savannah Winnett had 11 each.
Shayna Gore netted 15 for Logan. Taylor Norman added nine and Jenna Kimler five. Hannah Tothe and Summer Collins had three each. Rachelle Toppings had two.
Tolsia led Logan throughout, holding an 11-6 edge after one quarter and a 30-17 lead at halftime. The Lady Rebels then outscored the Lady Cats 20-10 in the third to expand the lead to 50-27. The Lady Cats are slated to host Winfield on Thursday night. Logan’s three-game winning streak was broken with last night’s defeat.
