The Man High School girls’ basketball team gave undefeated Westside a game on Thursday night at home.

It wasn’t enough, however, as the Lady Billies lost 70-62 to the Lady Renegades.

Man dropped to 11-5 on the season, while Westside improved to 14-0.

It was a big improvement from the last meeting with Westside in which the Lady Billies were crushed 84-31 at Clear Fork.

Summer Sword led Man with 36 points on the night. Morgan Conn drilled a pair of 3-pointers and had 14 total points. Taylor Whited and Madison Keffer had six each.

Tori Patrick led Westside with a 25-point game, including five makes from beyond the 3-point arc. Hope Lester poured in 15, while Morgan Spolarich had 13.

Man led Westside 17-15 after one quarter but got down 24-23 at the half. The Lady Billies then outscored the Lady Renegades 22-19 in the third to take a 45-43 lead. Man led 51-47 with five minutes to go and were tied at 53 with four minutes left.

Westside then took the lead for good on two foul shots with 3:49 left. With 2:49 remaining, Westside was back up by seven at 60-53. Man cut it to 62-57 with 1:38 left but could get no closer.

Man goes to 3A county rival Logan on Monday for a 1 p.m. matinee. Man lost 54-51 to Logan at home in the season opener back on Dec. 1.
