LOGAN, W.Va. — Mr. Elwood Lee Carver, 72, of Logan, was born August 29, 1939, at Vanceburg, Ky., a son of the late Frank and Ora Dixon Carver. He departed this life Tuesday, February 14, 2012, at Cabell-Huntington Hospital.

Also preceding him in death was his sister, Jane Tiller, and brothers, Reggie and Douglas Carver.

Elwood was a beloved uncle affectionately known as Uncle Woody. His mottos were to "Work hard" and "Keep up the good work" and he truly lived by his words and set an example for us all for a good work ethic. He was a master of many trades including welding, heavy equipment operating, mining, auto body and mechanics, all with an attention to detail, and was a U.S. army veteran. He will be missed for his kind heart, generosity, ingenuity, and humor. We will cherish his laughter forever. Rest in peace, Elwood and "take the rest of the day off".

Survivors include niece and nephews, Marissa Tiller, Doug (Alicia) Tiller, Bryan (Julie) Carver and David (Michelle) Carver; brother-in-law, Sam Tiller; sister-in-law, Freda Carver, and several great-nieces and nephews.

No formal services are planned.

Condolences may be mailed to: 730 Riverview Avenue, Logan, WV 25601

Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Chapmanville is serving the Carver and Tiller families in carrying out Elwood’s wishes.
