Also preceding him in death were three sisters, Inis Nelson, Alice Lafferty and Mae Lucas Adkins, and four brothers, Lonnie, Lawson, Lloyd and Harold Frye.
Clifton was a graduate from Guyan Valley High School in 1952. He joined the U.S. Navy where he spent four years active duty and four years inactive duty. He was honorably discharged in August 1960. After Clifton served in the Navy he became a Merchant Marine, where he was a wheelsman of the steam boat sailing throughout the Great Lakes. He was a member of the East Fork Baptist Church at Ranger.
Survivors include his loving wife and soul mate Billie Stone Frye of Ranger; three loving daughters, Sherry (Roger) Adams of Lavalette, Tammy (Reginald) Adkins of Owosso, Mich., and Angela (Jorge) Serna of Cincinnati, Ohio; one brother, Willard (Mescal) Frye of Ranger; six grandchildren, Tyler and Sara Adams, Jacob, Allison and Alexis Adkins and Charles Javier Serna, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 22, at Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Frankie Frye, Rev. Earnest Vance and Rev. Reginald Adkins officiating. Burial will follow at Frye Cemetery at Frye Ridge on 14 Mile Mountain at Ranger.
Pallbearers will be Roger Adams, Reginald Adkins, Jorge Serna, Tyler Adams, Jacob Adkins and Ron Lucas.
Honorary pallbearers will be George Lambert, Donald Frye, Kenneth Frye, Jody Lucas, Mike Lucas, Ted Belcher, John Belcher and Steve Belcher.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, February 21, at the funeral home.
