The Man High School girls’ basketball team lost 58-42 to host Charleston Catholic on Tuesday night in the Class A Region 4 Section 2 championship game at the Charleston Catholic Athletic Complex.

Both teams move on to next week’s Class A regional tournament.

Man, which won Monday, 61-21, over Van in the sectional opener, will play the Class A Region 4 Section 1 champion, likely No. 1-ranked Huntington St. Joe, (14-6), which opened sectional play last night against Hannan.

Charleston Catholic will host the other section’s runner-up, either Buffalo or Wahama.

Man dropped to 13-10 with Tuesday night’s loss to Catholic, the third time this season the Lady Billies have been beaten by the Irish.

Charleston Catholic improved to 12-10 with the victory.

Summer Sword led the Lady Billies in Tuesday night’s game with 16 points. Morgan Conn had nine, Taylor Whited eight and Madison Keffer five. Emilee Osborne and Mika McCoy had two each.

The Lady Billies were just 17-for-55 from the field and 2-for-6 from the free throw line. The Irish were 21-for-54 shooting and just 7-for-16 from the foul line.

Catholic was led by Morgan Eggleton’s 14 points. Hanna Gallian had 13 and Anna Whelan 12.

The Irish led 17-11 after one quarter, 28-17 at the half and 40-36 after three. An 18-6 fourth quarter by Charleston Catholic then sealed the deal.

Sword hit three 3-pointers on the night for Man. Conn had two 3s. Eggleton made four from downtown for the Irish. Whelan made a pair of 3-pointers.
