Born November 28, 1929, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Hurston and Lillie Blevins. Also preceding him in death was one son, Ronald Keith "Red" Blevins; six brothers, Roy, Ira Lee, Donald, Johnny, Omer and Willis, and two sisters Redith and Edith.
Earnest retired after 40 years of service with CSX Transportation as a car foreman. He was a longtime member and served as an elder at the Yuma Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mamie Lou Ellis Blevins; one son, Kent (Pam) Blevins of Covington, Va.; one daughter, Andrea (Jessie) Alfrey of Logan; seven grandchildren, Natalie (Shawn) Browning of Salisbury, N.C., J.R. Blevins, Sarah Fields and Peyton Alfrey, all of Logan, and Jennifer, Steven and Daniel Blevins, all of Covington; one great grandchild, Xavier Chance Browning of Salisbury, N.C.; one sister, Lois (Cliff) Lindsay of Lewisburg, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 21 at the James Funeral Home Chapel with Denney Collins, minister, officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Pallbearers will be J.R. Blevins, Steven Blevins, Daniel Blevins, Shawn Browning, Jessie Alfrey and Jeff Ellis.
There will be no visitation.
