Chapmanville’s Toler added to North-South roster

There had already been three Logan County players named for the upcoming North-South All-Star Football Classic.

Now there’s a fourth.

John Toler.

Toler, a 6-foot-1, 310-pound all-state senior lineman from Chapmanville Regional High School, joins Chapmanville teammate Joe Woody and Logan High School’s Joe Street and David Toney on the South All-Star roster.

The South Cardinals’ All-Star Team is being coached by Chapmanville head mentor George Barker.

This year’s game is scheduled to be played on Saturday, June 16 at Charleston’s Laidley Field. Practices are set to begin on June 11 at West Virginia State University at nearby Institute.

Several other notable names have also been named to the 37-man South team, including Wayne’s Tyler Adkins (WR/DB) and Allen Bryant (TE/DL); River View’s LeShawn Benton (WR/DL); Mingo Central’s Ashton Cline (P); Tolsia’s Jacob Copley (QB); Lincoln County’s Kyle Garretson (RB/LB) and Zach Whitten (RB/LB); Van’s Tyler Gunnoe (WR/DB); Wyoming East’s Marcus Schofield (WR/DB); and Winfield kicker Andy Ellington.

Other running backs on the South roster are: Cody Carter of Cabell Midland; Corey Ellis of South Charleston; Coty Frye of Shady Spring; Mark Latta of Capital; Elijah Lewis of Fayetteville; Spencer McPherson of Richwood; Nick Rice of Hurricane; Zach Tilley of Beckley; Dylan Trout of Greenbrier West; and Zach Walke of St. Albans.

The second quarterback on the South roster is Cam Roam of Spring Valley.
