The Logan High School track and field team has put up good showings so far in a pair of meets at Huntington and at Poca.
Several Logan athletes placed in various events on both the boys and girls sides.
“I am so proud of our team,” Logan track coach Gary Mullins said. “They are working so hard and competing with everything they have. We have already won 30-plus ribbons this year in only two meets and that is more than we won the whole year last season. Our next meet is April 13 at Laidley Field and the kids would love to see the great fans of Logan their to support them. “
At the Huntington Invitational on March 27, Logan’s David Toney was second in the shot putt, while Jameson Copley was second in the long jump and Tyler Dugan was second in the 1,600-meter run.
Zach Ellis took third in the discus, while Clayton Marcum was fourth in the long jump and Jacob Songer was fourth in the high jump.
On the girls’ side at Huntington, Logan’s Catherine Lee was third in the 100-meter hurdles and fifth in the 100-meter dash, while Adrianna Herrera took second in the 300-meter hurdles and fifth in the 100-meter hurdles.
Hannah Frye was fourth in the high jump. Katelyn Jones was sixth in the 100-meter dash.
On March 29 at the Dick Darby Invitational at Poca High School, Logan’s 4x100 girls’ relay team was sixth with a time of 1:01. The team consisted of Asia McCants, Jones, Kristin Dempsey and Kealeigh Morgan.
The Lady Cats’ shuttle hurdle team was fourth with a time of 1:23. The squad was made up of Paige Marcum, Lee, Christian Workman and Herrera.
On the boys’ side at the Poca meet, Logan’s Toney was third in the shot with a throw of 41 feet, three inches.
Logan’s Dustin Thompson took second in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 12:16.
The 4x100 relay team was fourth in 48.24. The squad was made up of Toney, Chris Marcum, Clayton Marcum and Dimitri Coleman.
Logan’s 4x200 relay team took sixth in 1:52. The team was comprised of Kade Doss, Thomas Hunter, Copley and Tyler Vernatter.
The 4x800 relay team of Thompson, Tyler Dugan, Hunter Napier and Richard Ojeda was second in 10:17.
Clayton Marcum was fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.40.
Copley was fifth in the long jump with a leap of 16-9.
Samuel Adkins was sixth in the 400-meter dash in 1:01.
Dugan was also fourth in the 1,600 meters with a time of 5:31.
