MAN — The Man High School girls’ softball team defeated Westside, 7-3, on Monday night at Man.

Taylor Tomblin picked up the win on the mound as the Lady Billies improved to 8-6 on the season.

Man took the lead 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning off Westside hurler Cassie Blankenship.

Sophomore Cari Blair singled in senior Summer Sword with two outs to give MHS the early 1-0 advantage. Tomblin then got the Lady Renegades out in order in the top of the second frame.Man plated two more runs in the home half of the second inning to take a 3-0 lead. Casey Albright walked with one out and Tabitha Ferguson then reached on a Renegade error. Elizabeth Dickerson then ripped an RBI single to make it 2-0. Summer Sword then got a sac fly to make it 3-0. The Lady Billies scored three runs in the bottom of the third stanza off Blankenship to take a 6-0 lead.Blair got a one-out single to get it started. Tomblin was hit by a pitch and Madison Keffer then singled to load the bases. Albright struck out but the ball got by the catcher, scoring Blair to make it 4-0.Ferguson then got hit by a pitch to give MHS a 5-0 lead. The Lady Billies scored their final run of the inning with an RBI single off the bat of Dickerson to increase the lead to 6-0.Dickerson’s RBI triple in the fifth made it 7-0.Westside then cut it to 7-1 in the top of the sixth with an RBI single by Blankenship. The Lady Renegades pushed two more runs across the plate off Tomblin in the top of the seventh with three straight hits to make it 7-3. But it was Tomblin who got Blankenship to fly out to end the game.Dickerson was 3-for-3 with three RBI to lead the Man bats. Blair had two hits in the game.The Lady Billies travel to Charleston Catholic on Tuesday and host arch rival Logan on Wednesday.
