Born December 22, 1951, at home on Rocky Branch in Logan County, he was a son of Victoria Dingess of Cairo, W.Va., and the late Romie Dingess. Also preceding him in death was his paternal grandparents, George Dingess and Carrie Dingess Cook; his paternal step-grandfather, Void Cook, and his maternal grandparents, Laben and Inez Conley.
Leslie graduated from Chapmanville High School in 1969 and served his country during the Vietnam War for three years where he was in the ground to air missile division of the U.S. Army stationed in Okinawa. He worked for Romie Dingess Construction and C&C Line Company. He enjoyed sports, fishing and spending time with his family and friends. He volunteered many years to Chapmanville Buddy League and Little League.
Additional survivors include his special companion, Nancy Cross of Madison, Fla.; his dog, Boots; a daughter, Melissa (Joe) Rogers of Chapmanville; a son, Kevin (Brittani) Dingess of Huntington; five sisters, Kathy (Daris) Cooley of Madison, Fla., Rita (Bill) Caldwell of Poplar Grove, Ill., Bonnie (Rick) Lavender of Benton, Ky., Carrie Adkins of Cairo, and Beverly (Brian) Lamp of Nashville, Tenn.; four brothers, Mike (Teresa) Dingess of Chapmanville, Dennie (Kathy) Dingess of Parkersburg, Kenneth (Lailla) of Old Fields and Greg (Beth) Dingess of Cairo; two grandsons, Joseph Copeland and Jordan Rogers, both of Chapmanville; the mother of his children, Rebecca Dingess of Chapmanville, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, January 30, at the Freeman Funeral Home at Chapmanville with Rev. Harry Dingess officiating. Burial will follow at the Dingess Family Cemetery at Cairo.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Denny Dingess, Mike Dingess, Kenneth Dingess, Greg Dingess, Bill Caldwell and Daris Cooley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Rogers, Shorty Farley, Scooter Farley, Ricky Dingess, Glen Adkins, Eugene May and Michael May.
At the family’s request, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Melissa Rogers, 223 Hurricane Branch Road, Chapmanville, WV 25508.
